The X-shaped seal is an improved O-shaped seal, also known as the star seal, and its structure has four lips. The sealing ring is vulcanized by a jointless ring mold, and its cross section shape is approximately square. In terms of use and function, X-shaped seals are very similar to O-shaped seals, but X-shaped seals have superior sealing performance. Usually, X-shaped seals are made of various synthetic rubbers.

X seal ring is mainly used in dynamic sealing occasions, can also be used for static sealing. It is suitable for pistons, piston rods, plungers, etc. in bidirectional reciprocating motion, but also suitable for shafts and mandrels under swing, spiral and rotation conditions. The working pressure of the X-shaped seal does not exceed 40MPa, the working speed does not exceed 0.5m/s, and the working temperature is between -60 and 200 ° C (depending on the material choice). After special anti-friction treatment, the X-shaped sealing ring can provide better friction performance.

The advantages of the X-ring compared to the O-ring include:

The X-ring has excellent sealing effect and long life in the dynamic sealing situation, and can effectively replace the O-ring in the low-speed motion situation, and is also suitable for the sealing of the rotating shaft. The mounting groove of the X-ring can be used interchangeably with the groove of the O-ring.
